Intelligent transportation system

February 13th, 2009

In an effort to showcase Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies and promote intelligent transportation infrastructures, FHWA’s Office of Technology Applications  sponsored Demonstration Project 105; or as it was more commonly referred to DP105.

Entitled “Advanced Transportation Management Technologies”, DP105 perpetuated a long history of successful demonstration projects sponsored by FHWA. These projects take functioning technologies out into the field so that decision-makers, administrators, practitioners, and the general public can observe them in action and get a much better sense for the function and capabilities of each.
Focus: ITS Technologies

DP105 focused on representative ITS technologies that can be deployed in transportation infrastructures and have been loaned by partners from both private and public sectors. Demonstrations will display the role of each technology in controlling congestion and improving mobility and safety. These technologies are showcased in a high-profile mobile classroom that provides interactive hands-on demonstrations on a variety of hardware and software. DP105 included a selection of software systems for:

* Traffic, Incident and Transit Management
* Coordinated and Adaptive Signal Control
* Integrated, Multi-jurisdictional Transportation Management
* Traffic Simulation
